Congratulations to Grindon Infant School on its recent OPAL Gold Award! Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Headteacher Andrea Charlton said:
“Play has become a central part of daily life at Grindon Infant School, with staff undertaking specialist training and working closely with pupils and families to ensure play is valued as an essential part of children’s learning and wellbeing.
“Inspectors highlighted the positive impact this approach has had on behaviour, engagement and children’s happiness at school. We are incredibly proud to have achieved the OPAL Gold Award. It reflects the hard work, commitment and shared vision of our entire school community – staff, children, governors and families. Play is fundamental to children’s development and this award celebrates the way our children thrive through high‑quality, inclusive and joyful play every day.”
